The linked community guide reports that a unit needs level 20 and an available evolution path. It describes an Evolve area in the lobby. We have not reproduced those requirements in game; confirm the current unit screen before spending anything.

Reported evolution paths
These paths are a concise summary of the linked community guide. The official Update 1 event also names Spear Vanguard, Imperial Halberder and Elite Javelineer beside their base forms. They are reference leads, not a verified current recipe list. No cost or star rating is implied.
Before you evolve
Our suggested checklist helps separate a visible preview from an action you can actually complete:
- Identify the exact unit. Compare its current name with the proposed next form. Similar names are easy to confuse.
- Read the unit’s own progress. Do not substitute account progress for a requirement shown on an individual unit.
- Read the full confirmation. Check which resources or copies will be consumed and what the resulting unit will be.
- Check the rest of the army. If the new form changes a loadout restriction, make sure the army you intend to use still fits.
- Verify the result. After any confirmed upgrade, inspect the new card before making another decision.
If evolution is unavailable
Start with the text on the disabled button or requirement panel. A visible next-form illustration does not necessarily mean the conditions have been met. Compare the unit’s level, the named requirement and any displayed resource count individually.
If the interface differs from a guide, record that difference and the date. Avoid repeatedly spending resources on a guess. The community source itself notes disagreements about some requirements, so a generic “reach level 20” instruction may leave out an important distinction.
Evolution and other upgrades
The referenced guide describes evolution as changing a unit’s form and ascension as a separate duplicate-based progression system. This distinction is community-reported. Check the confirmation panel rather than assuming that two upgrade buttons consume the same resources or produce the same result.
For selecting a starting unit, use the unit notebook. For deciding what a stronger army needs to do, see our unit comparison framework.
